Yogurt, Probiotics and Candida Symptoms

Yogurt is an incredibly effective treatment for vaginal yeast infections. It provides the beneficial bacteria to directly destroy a yeast infection. Use sugar free, unsweetened “live culture” yogurt only. You can also add acidophilus powder to yogurt to increase its effectiveness. Stevia, a natural plant based sweetener, may be added into the yogurt for taste. It is the only sweetener on the Anti-Candida Diet that you may have. Acidophilus is a good bacterium that directly combats bad bacteria growths. It is a very popular supplement, praised for its beneficial digestive effects. It is particularly effective in controlling Candida overgrowths that create vaginal yeast infections. It is one of the main bacterial cultures found in yogurt, which is why eating yogurt and applying it directly when dealing with a yeast infection is so effective. I highly recommend acidophilus powder as your number one supplement against Candida and yeast infections. There are various treatments you can utilize with yogurt to bring yourself rapid relief.

The Yogurt Popsicle: This treatment involves smearing a tampon with yogurt and then inserting it into the vagina. You can also freeze the tampon and create what’s known as a “Yogurt Popsicle”. This works to bring down the swelling and can be soothing for some women. The unfrozen version is recommended for sensitive women. A variation of this is filling each finger of a disposable glove with yogurt, freezing it and removing each Popsicle when needed. Another method is to fill an ice cube tray with yogurt, freeze and rub the ice cube over an itchy, burning vaginal yeast infection for rapid relief. Make sure you have a towel underneath you as it can get messy.

Direct Application: You can also use a spoon, a spatula, a needle-less syringe or a vaginal cream applicator to insert yogurt into the vagina. Your fingers can also be used, just make sure you are reaching as high as you can into your vagina. Be sure to also spread the yogurt all over the outer portion of the vulva. This method tends to be somewhat messy, but can still be highly effective so don’t let the mess stop you! To avoid creating a mess try applying the yogurt while laying down on your back, laying down like this with the yogurt inside your vagina for at least 1 hour can provide the greatest relief. If you must stay on your feet, wear a panty liner to catch any drips. Sitting down on a towel allows for both neatness and a little more air circulation. When you are all finished with the yogurt treatment clean off the vulva and vagina. Using a needle-free syringe spray a sea salt water mixture into the vagina to both clean it out and help further kill off the infection. If a syringe is not available you can also use the suggested apple cider vinegar bath following using the yogurt treatment to clean out the area and also help further eliminate the infection.

Eat it! You should be both eating yogurt as well as applying it to the vagina. Again, the yogurt used must be unsweetened. Try to use Kefir, a type of yogurt from goat’s milk, as it has very high levels of good bacteria or a product such as Bio-K. Bio-K has as much beneficial bacteria in it as 50 average yogurts combined. Buttermilk may be difficult to find but it is also highly packed with beneficial hese options should be used daily in building a large amount of beneficial bacteria in the body.

Acidophilus Douche: You will need 1 to 3 capsules of acidophilus with a combined strength of at least 50 billion live bacteria and ½ to 1 liter of warm water. Simply mix the water and acidophilus together and use it as a douche.
